Team Restoration is comprised of staff, trained volunteers, and a significant group of residents with a strong desire to see relationships, families, and communities restored by guiding prison residents through the process of mental preparation, spiritual formation, and physical repair. Although a background in the fields of organizational leadership, religion, education, and healthcare may be significant assets in any member of our team, they are not a requirement for either our staff or volunteers.
Team Restoration is blessed with ambassadors both inside and outside of the correctional facility. This team not only shares news of the Restoration Foundation in their spheres of influence, they also engage in fundraising efforts and events as the organization develops. We encourage anyone interested in helping transform lives to join the team!
The Restoration Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of members from around the state of Kansas. The Board of Directors works closely with the Chaplain's Department at the El Dorado Correctional Facility Spiritual Life Center. This Board is also assisted by an Advisory Board that provides guidance and insight into potential programs and activities at EDCF.
Restoration Foundation is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organization founded in September of 2021 at the El Dorado Correctional Facility. The legal incorporated name is the EDCF Spiritual Life Center Fund and was founded by Chaplain Herbie Harris and Chaplain Rose Booker-Jones. With a desire to provide a clear vision for the future and a concise mission to rally a team around, in June of 2023, the SLC Fund Board of Directors voted to do business as the Restoration Foundation.
The mission statement of the Restoration Foundation is to "Restore Communities by Transforming Lives: MIND | BODY | SOUL."
Today, Restoration Foundation is a non-profit organization that offers transformational services such as faith-based programming, substance abuse rehabilitative support, educational opportunities, occupational training, relationship reconciliation counseling, fitness and nutrition education, as well as assistance with re-entry and reintegration.
The Restoration Foundation focuses on helping prison residents transform their lives in such a way that their futures are not defined or dictated by their past. We provide an atmosphere of refuge with the restoration of all lives in mind. Our goal is to be a conduit of light and inspiration amidst an arena filled with darkness and stagnation.
Restoration Network began at the El Dorado Correctional Facility in October of 2022. This closed-circuit television channel operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With a constant focus on the mission of the Restoration Foundation, this channel broadcasts content geared towards the transformation of lives: mind, body, and soul.
In accordance with the Core Principles of the Restoration Foundation, broadcast scheduling for the Restoration Network focuses on Renewing Minds, Rebuilding Bodies, and Redeeming Souls. Each day residents at EDCF have the opportunity to view content on topics ranging from communication and interviewing skills to physical fitness and nutrition. Some may choose to view courses about learning a new language, how to start a business, or even ways to navigate relationship reconciliation.
The Restoration Foundation also partners with religious organizations around the Midwest to provide quality content to the residents of EDCF. Each week, the Restoration Network airs services from churches throughout the region to assist EDCF residents in establishing a connection with a congregation before releasing back into the community and searching for a place of worship.
